A little of this... A little of that

After a long week we had another busy weekend this weekend. Friday afternoon Joey decided to wash my car. Of course Conner had to help! I was inside doing my thing when I heard Joey calling for me. I went outside and this is what Conner was doing...

His "big truck" needed a good cleaning too... :) After the cars were good and clean Joey and Conner planted some flowers that Joey picked up at the Credit Union from their Earth Day Event.

Saturday I spent the day cleaning...BLAH... and Joey and little man played outside. My Aunt was home from Auburn so she kept Conner Saturday night while Joey and I went out with Justin, Amy, & Keith. This was the guys on the way to Huntsville... they wanted to share the backseat together...

We ate at Tortora's in Hampton Cove, then headed to the mall! It's sad, but I couldn't remember the last time I had actually been to the mall. We had a great time, well I did at least! I'm not sure the guys enjoyed the whole mall experience. :)

FINALLY.. Sunday morning Conner's bunny rabbit came to visit!  Conner calls the Easter bunny "his bunny rabbit". The other night we were watching Mickey Mouse and Mickey and the gang were hunting Easter eggs. Conner turned to me and said "My rabbit going to bring me presents". I had no idea what he was talking about... I looked at him funny and asked what he said. He said "My BUNNY RABBIT going to bring me presents". Ooohh YES!!! I told him on Sunday the Easter bunny would come fill up his Easter basket with goodies, but only if he was a good boy. So everyday from that day on he would ask if his bunny rabbit was coming tomorrow. It sure is hard for a 2 year old to grasp the whole concept of time. :) When Conner got home from Poppy's Sunday morning this is what he found!

After we played a little bit we got ready for church...then we headed to Nana's for some lunch! It was YUMMY and I ate WAY too much. Grammy hid eggs for Conner & Tess...I didn't take my camera ( the battery was dead) So I didn't get any pictures. :(  Last night Conner enjoyed his new bath tub crayons the Easter Bunny brought him...........

We had a great weekend but it sure did fly by!! Now it's time to start another busy work week... and Wednesday is the BIG DAY so it will be hectic for sure. Please say a prayer for us and the LITTLE MAN!! I think it will be harder on us than it is him! I hope everyone had a FANTASTIC EASTER!!

Dino's in the sky....?

Every night I think of all the funny little things Conner has said that day and by the next morning I can only remember a couple. The child totally cracks me up and I definitely need to start carrying a notebook with me to jot down all the craziness! When I started this blog I had every intention of posting pictures and keeping up with all the cute and funny things he does. I didn't realize that was going to be such a hard task. I constantly FORGET my camera. :(

With Joey's schedule it works out that he can pick Conner up from School one day a week. This past Tuesday when I got home Joey and Conner were in the back yard, Conner on his Gator... Joey on the lawn mower. Joey was chasing Conner around the back yard ! It totally freaked me out, being the worrier I am, I was terrified Joey would accidentally run over Conner! Conner was having the time of his life and I wish I had taken a picture, but I just went in the house so I wouldn't kill their fun. :)  Conner absolutely adores Joey and I love watching them play together and do "boy" things. (Even though it scares the life out of me)

That night we cooked dinner and after Conner decided he would perform. He has this thing he just started where he will sing any given song then after the first verse he will yell "BOX OF SKETTI"! I have NO idea where he got that from but it totally cracks us up. He will also sing "Twinkle Twinkle" and say "like a DINO in the sky"! I love listening to him sing his songs and he actually does pretty good. Joey is going to KILL me for posting this (and I apologize for it being sideways, I don't know what I'm doing) I took this video the other night when Joey & Conner were being their usual silly self!

If you listen closely you can hear the "dino" part and at one point Conner says his bit about "box of sketti". I'm not sure why Joey is teaching him "hands up". Maybe for their future Cops & Robbers game??? Which, I guess it isn't that great of an idea to teach a 2 year old to shoot a pretend gun!! ;) BTW... Joey is singing in his funny voice...not for real. lOl

Last night when we went to bed Conner wanted to "hold my neck". :) I told him nite nite and I love him and he said "I love you too, sweetheart"! HA I have no idea where he heard that either. Sweetheart is not a popular word in my vocabulary. I do usually say baby.. but sweetheart..not so much. That is something my mom would say. lOl (Love you Mom)

I have some pictures I uploaded from my cell. Not the best quality, but I thought they were cute. One of them Conner's teacher took one day when he was at school. I believe he might just be the class clown. :) I love that little stinker more than I can begin to describe!!

Weekend Recap

This weekend was packed with all sorts of excitement! Saturday morning we headed out to Conner's best bud's birthday party at "the bouncy place" in Boaz. Brayson belongs to my childhood friend Kasey and he and Conner are only 5 months apart. Conner was in rare form Saturday morning and it was all I could do to get out the door. We ended up being 30 minutes late, but we still had great fun! Conner and Brayson play so well together...except for the minor mishap that involves a power wheels motorcycle (more on that in a bit).

After the party we headed to the "Evil Empire" aka: Walmart .. Considering my place of employment, it's sort of frowned upon to visit Walmart. :) We needed necessities: Cleaning supplies, toilet paper, dog food, diapers, soap.... So it was a must for this trip. While we were shopping I decided to let Conner pick out some big boy undies. I've been reading a friend's blog and her son that is just a few weeks older than Conner has been potty training. I asked for some advise and had been meaning to start training Conner but I never found a good weekend to start. I figured a weekend would be best since I would be home with him for two days. Well, I'm pretty sure I picked the wrong weekend. When we got home Conner was so excited to put on his big boy underwear. I made a big deal about using the potty and he was ready to go.... He wanted to sit on the counter while I unloaded the groceries so I put him up there was doing my thing when I heard "UH OH". I turned around and there was a huge puddle on the counter. Conner continued with "I sorry mommy, I no mean to". I set him down, cleaned up the mess and changed his clothes. No more than 10 minutes passed when I heard "UH OH" again. SERIOUSLY!!! This time I made Conner wear his wet pants for a while. After I finished putting away the groceries I changed him again and took him to the potty and explained AGAIN that when he needed to tee tee to tell me and he would go in the big boy potty. All was well for about 30 mintues when he came out of his room with his pants sopping wet! He seriously peed 3 times in about 30 minutes! What the heck... so I was out of big boy undies and pretty ill so I gave up. Which is not a good thing, I know. But I was just done! I went to pull of his pants and underwear when I look down and notice I have a huge pile of poop on my pants. YAY!! Not only had Conner peed, he pooped too.... Guess I should have checked before I slung his pants off. So I had to stick Conner in the tub and change my clothes AND clean the carpet. It was a huge potty training nightmare LOL! I know I need to be consistent, but I just didn't have it in me this weekend. I have decided to wait until after Conner's surgery and he is completely well to try again.

Speaking of surgery... Conner will have his tonsils taken out on the 27th and possibly have tubes put in. EEK! I'm so ready for it to be over with... I know he will feel so much better!

Now, on to Sunday. I woke up with the crud... YUCK! I felt horrible, so we skipped Church with Nana :( and was lazy Sunday morning. Conner had some play time with Lilee and Jackson. (Thank you Lindsee for letting me nap !!!!!!) Conner took a nap after lunch and then we headed to Derek and Mallory's shower. Papa was waiting on us at the church and Conner went home with him. I am pretty sure Conner would live with Mama Jean & Papa Gene if I would let him. :) After the shower we headed over to Kasey's to play with Brayson and his new birthday toys. They had a great time until Conner ran over Brayson with the motorcycle! :( I'm not exactly sure how it happened because they were in the garage at the time. Brayson has a good little scratch under his eye and tire marks down his leg. :( Nice little battle scar there! Sorry B!!! Hopefully we will get to play again at Brayson's house LOL! Thanks Kasey and Brayson for having us!!!

And last, but not least... HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my BESTEST FRIEND AMY & to little man BRAYSON!!!

Obstructive Apnea.... SAY WHAT?

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Joey & I went on a cruise the first week in March. Well, when we returned on Saturday Conner had his usual runny one minute/stuffy the next nose problems. It seems that with the weather we have here in the great state of Alabama, everyone experiences head troubles. As usual, I didn't take Conner to the doctor because what are they going to do.... nothing! Conner's nose stopped running after only a couple of days but the stuffiness at night time didn't go away. Now, Conner has always been a "loud" sleeper. Snoring, stuffy sounding, mouth wide open every night. But this time, something was different. As time went on Conner eventually would stop breathing in his sleep. HELLO... that is NOT normal. I was sold on the whole idea of "it's just the weather" and soaked him in Vick's and ran the humidifier. That seemed to help some, but the problem didn't go away. Now, I guess I am just stubborn, or maybe I don't take Conner being sick as seriously as I should. I've always practiced the "get well on their own builds their immune system" philosophy. After all, the majority of the time doctor's won't give kids medicine. How many times have you heard "it just has to run it's course" ??? I finally broke down Monday morning and took Conner to the doctor. After sharing Conner's symptom's with Dr. B and a quick look in Conner's nose and throat, Dr. B determined that Conner has Obstructive Apnea. Basically Conner's tonsils are enlarged and when he goes to sleep, said tonsils block his airway....... Results??? Conner's tonsils have to be removed!!!

After a quick panic attack and asking Dr. B "ARE YOU SURE IT'S OKAY TO REMOVE HIS TONSILS, HE IS ONLY 2?" I feel a little better about the situation. After all, we can't continue to spend every night watching Conner's stomach move up and down. We go see an ENT Thursday morning and will go from there on when surgery will take place. I'm extremely nervous, but this is something that has to be done. We can't continue to have the little man not breathing properly when he sleeps... :(  I guess I definitely won't be getting the mom of the year award this time. Who knew that snoring in kids was not normal?? I'm thankful that even though this is a serious issue, he doesn't have anything worse. This can be taken care of and on the plus side, we won't have to worry about the possibility of strep down the road... :) Not to mention Conner and I will both finally get to rest at night.

Here is a picture of the little "enlarged tonsil" man from last Easter... is he not just precious ?? LOL

Remembering Rab...

Last July my family was hit hard with the loss of my grandfather. My grandfather, or Rabbit as most people knew him, was one of the greatest men I have even known. He was a great Christian man who loved God and his family and friends more than anything. He had such a kind heart and would give you the shirt off his back. He loved sports and played and officiated more baseball, softball, & football games than I could even begin to count. Rab never met a stranger and saw the good in everyone. He had a nickname for everyone and was the go to guy if you ever needed help. He battled cancer off an on for years and won every time. I guess I always thought he was invincible, nothing would ever happen to him.

About a year ago Rab's health started deteriorating and around the end of June we found out that yet again, cancer had returned. What we didn't know is that unlike all the times before, this time he wouldn't win the battle. In two short weeks he took a turn for the worse and on July 3rd, 2010 he finally went home to be with the Lord. As hard as it is I know he is in a much better place. Like he always said "whether I go or stay, I'm a winner either way". I would give anything to hear him say "Hey George, did you work hard this day", but I know he is looking down on us and that one day I will see him again. I'm so glad to have known him and more importantly honored to have been his granddaughter!

So, for the main reason for this post..... April 2nd, 2011 the Crossville High School baseball field was named in honor of Rabbit. I can't think of a better way to remember a man who loved baseball and the Town of Crossville.
